Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology:

The department of obstetrics & gynaecology was established in 1958. The department flourished and progressed under the illustrious professionalism of Dr. Meenakshi Solomon, who dedicated thirty years of service to this hospital.

The department aims to provide cost-effective, comprehensive, quality obstetrical and gynaecological care to people from all strata of society both within our district and neighbouring areas.

Obstetrics:

Being a tertiary care centre, the department is well-equipped and trained to handle routine as well as complicated/emergency obstetrics.  Services include:

• Antenatal clinic (daily) – during normal OPD hours, we do routine antenatal checkups and provide health and hygiene education to our patients

 

• Normal delivery – The labour room is equipped with 2 labour tables, efficient staff and trained medical officers on duty round the clock.

 

• The hospital is empanelled with the state government of Madhya Pradesh for JSY (Janani Sahayogi Yojana) under which all pregnant women holding BPL card deliver free of cost (either normal or operative).

 

• We routinely handle cases of ectopic pregnancy, eclampsia, pre-eclampsia, rupture uterus, multiple pregnancy, molar pregnancy, antepartum haemorrhage, post partum haemorrhage and all types of complications before and after pregnancy and delivery.

 

• Post natal care – Contraceptive advice, Copper-T insertion and Tubectomy surgery

 

• Operative and instrumental delivery – We have a well-equipped Operation Theatre with full-time obstetrician and anaesthetist for routine and emergency Caesarean and instrumental deliveries

Gynaecology:

• OPD services – We provide OPD services for all gynaecological problems like menstrual irregularities, genital infections, benign tumours, puberty menorrhagia and genital malignancies.

 

• Infertility clinic – We provide infertility treatment for both male and female partners. We do diagnostic hysterolaparoscopy for tubal patency, ovarian drilling, hysterosalpingography, sonosalpingography, semen analysis, hormonal assay, ovulation induction and follicular study

 

• Hysterectomy – We do abdominal hysterectomy, non-descent vaginal hysterectomy, vaginal hysterectomy with pelvic flow repair, total laparoscopic hysterectomy, obstetrical hysterectomy and radical hysterectomy. Under the RBS scheme, poor patients get financial assistance for genital malignancies

 

• Screening – We have undertaken a cervical cancer screening program in the surrounding village communities. The screening is done by specially trained staff by VIA and VIL techniques. The high suspicion cases are referred to Padhar hospital for colposcopic examination.

 

• Miscellaneous -  Recanalization, vaginoplasty, imperforate hymen, debulking surgery for ovarian cancers, laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy
